Send Obama a Blank Void CheckWe need to tell Obama that we want our nominee back. He has betrayed the progressive values he espoused in the Democratic Primaries.
- In the Primaries, Obama said he would filibuster any bill which included telecomm immunity. After the Primary, he not only did not fillibuster this bill, he voted for it.
- Obama's support for the farming lobby by subsidizing ethanol which drives up corn prices and isn't a path to sustainable development, and is probably more harmful to the environment than it is beneficial.
- Although he expressed support for the Faith-Based Initiative in the Primaries, he did not mention his desire to decrease the separation of church and state and increase the national debt by expanding the Faith-Based Intitiative. Under Bush, isn't this just a kickback for religious supporters?
- After endorsing the public financing system, Obama abandoned it and claimed that he was abandoning it for the same reasons he originally supported it. This isn't necessarily a bad move as long as most of his contributions are coming from citizens, rather than from corporations, but this double-talk betrayed his seemingly honest disposition during the campaign. We want an honest President, not another liar.
